Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle

A natural amphitheatre spread across 12 fascinating hectares with over 80 indigenous and exotic garden landscapes as well as breathtaking views across the spa town of Meran and its mountain world.

Meran 2000

Ski resort in winter and hiking paradise in summer – Meran’s sun-blessed local mountain can be reached from the town centre in just 7 minutes with the panoramic cable car. Thanks to the Alpin Bob summer toboggan run, you can enjoy tobogganing here in all seasons.

Tappeiner promenade

This promenade, owed to tourism pioneer Franz Tappeiner, is one of Europe’s most beautiful promenades and is a leisurely 8km route through the impressive natural and cultural landscape of Burgraviato/Burggrafenamt.

The ancestral seat of the Counts of Tyrol, built in the 12th century, is one of the most important castles in the province and has been home to the South Tyrol Museum of Culture and Provincial History since 2003.

Schildhöfe (Shield Farms)

The 11 “Shield Farms” in Val Passiria/Passeiertal were once the residences of farmers raised to the lowest levels of aristocracy. You’ll be enchanted by the sight of the castle-like 13th-century farmhouses with their towers, frescoes, and sun dials.

Muthöfe farmsteads

These impressive mountain farmsteads are located between 1,100 and 1,500 metres above sea level, high above the spa town of Meran. Once only accessible via steep mule paths, today the medieval farmsteads are a popular hiking destination.

Knottnkino nature cinema

The South Tyrolean word “Knottn” means “rock”, giving you an idea of what you can expect here: An open-air cinema with 30 cinema seats made of steel and wood, created by local artist Franz Messner on the Monzoccolo/Tschöggelberg high plateau. The view of the surrounding mountain giants is sure to leave you open-mouthed.
